The Relationship between Interior Design and Architecture

Imagine, the lovely architecture of your office building but you don’t know how to furnish the space. Here is how architecture and interior designing are closely related. Gone were the days when architects got the responsibility of completing the interior furnishings tasks together with artisans and furniture maker. Now giving your home a look you want, perfectly fused with architecture of that space would definitely demands extra time and money.

Interior architecture includes conceptualisation and technical aspects of interior space that comprise electrical, plumbing, ventilation and material. Whereas interior design’s motive is to create a visually appealing atmosphere that includes furnishings, styling and decoration.

How both are Different but Connected

The structure which is the main concern of architect includes the general functioning of any space. The main focus is to understand the structure of the building to make the interior functional, practical and safe. They should have knowledge about the strength and durability of materials used. Starting from the initial consultations, architects understands the client’s needs and drafts plans using computer drafting programs like CADD. Interior designer may be called on the project when it is under construction to understand the layout but their responsibility later starts when the project is completed. Choosing furnishings, lighting, paints and fixtures to make the space comfortable and inviting are their responsibilities.

Interior design helps you reflects your personality whether you wants to give your home a modern look or traditional one. Making any space comfortable from each perspective and a pleasing one requires a blending of Interior design and architecture.
